Alma Woodsey Thomas (1891-1978), Washington Color Field School. Abstraction, 1960. Oil on canvas, size 117 x 76 cm (46 x 30 inches), frame dimensions 121 x 80 cm (47 2/3 x 31 1/2 inches). Signed and dated lower right, signature on the verso. (Associated with the Washington, DC Color Field Painters of the 1970s, Alma Woodsey Thomas became the first black woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art).
