Gunnar Börjeson (1877–1945) was a prominent representative of a Swedish-Danish artistic dynasty. He was born on August 4, 1877, in Våbensted, Denmark, into the family of the renowned Swedish sculptor John Börjeson. His brother, Börje, and sister, Lena, were also active figures in the arts. His educational background includes: 1884–1887: Attended the Beskow School, 1897–1898: Attended Caleb Althin's art school, 1898–1903: Studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. In 1904, he visited Paris. From 1905 to 1908, he traveled across Germany, Italy, and France. He spent about a year and a half in Rome, where he studied under Kristian Zahrtmann during the summer months. Portrait of his father: This notable work was purchased by the Academy of Fine Arts following the death of John Börjeson.
