Lot Description
Empire Serving Table, France, 19th century. Walnut wood, gilded bronze, porcelain. Table mounted with nine finely hand-painted porcelain plaques. The focal 10" signed porcelain plaque depicting Josephine Bonaparte. The outer edge encircled by eight smaller hand-painted plaques depicting: the prince of Rome, Pauline Bonaparte, Elisa Bonaparte, Caroline Murat, and Dsse. De Montebello, Marie Louise, Mme. Recamier, and Mme. Hortense. The tabletop and apron with ormolu mounts, supported on a tapering column with classic figure relief decoration, the platform terminating on three bun feet. Height 77 cm (30 1/3 inches), tabletop diameter 69,5 cm (27 1/3 inches).
