Jerry McKeehan, born in Boulder, Colorado, and received his B.A. with honours from Colorado State University in 1962. His formal education includes work under Clifford Still.Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City recruited him as a designer, during which time he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. He also received a grant from Hallmark to study with watercolourist John Pike in New York.In 1966, he left Hallmark to devote full time to his painting and work at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the Kansas City Art Institute. He also served as artist-in-residence for the Missouri Council of the Arts. McKeehan's acrylic paintings capture life forces that explode on the canvas. He creates visual excitement with his brush, bringing out a rhythm in motion, colour, line, and pattern. His figural paintings reflect a spiritual connection with angels, saints and lives who came before us. The landscapes reveal nature's power and energy through colour, form, and spirit. Growing up in Colorado, he developed a deep affinity to nature and its real and abstract beauty. Jerry has developed an energetic style combining his rich colour palette and exciting compositions. Each painting contains a narrative force commanding attention. His art is the work of a seasoned talent with ageless appeal.
